Selected personally by Chester Bennington from a competitive field of designers, I led the creative vision and web design for Linkin Park's "One More Light" album campaign. I designed a comprehensive digital ecosystem including custom web design systems, an atmospheric pre-release splash page, and an interactive "Out Now" banner featuring motion parallax technology. Managing the handoff to the development team, I ensured seamless execution of a design that honored the album's emotional depth while delivering an engaging, technically sophisticated fan experience.
Earning Chester's Trust Through Creative Vision
Being chosen by Chester Bennington himself from a pile of competing designers was both an honor and a responsibility that shaped my entire approach to the "One More Light" campaign. My creative pitch stood out for its ability to capture the album's introspective, emotionally raw tone while maintaining Linkin Park's established visual identity. This selection validated my design philosophy: that digital experiences should serve the music's emotional core rather than overshadow it. The trust placed in me by the band drove every decision throughout the project, from initial concept to final execution.
Designing a Cohesive Digital Ecosystem
I developed a complete web design system for the "One More Light" campaign that would evolve alongside the album's release cycle. Starting with an atmospheric splash page, I created an immersive holding environment that built anticipation while giving fans a first glimpse into the album's aesthetic world. The design system I established provided clear guidelines for typography, color palettes, imagery treatment, and interactive elements—ensuring visual consistency across all digital touchpoints. This systematic approach allowed for flexibility as the campaign progressed, making it possible to seamlessly transition from the teaser phase to the full album launch while maintaining brand cohesion.
Interactive Launch Experience & Technical Innovation
On the eve of the album's release, I designed and launched a dynamic "Out Now" banner that elevated the site from a static destination to an interactive experience. The centerpiece was a custom motion parallax component that responded to user interaction, creating depth and movement that mirrored the album's emotional journey. After completing the design and establishing the technical specifications, I managed the handoff to a three-person development team, providing detailed documentation of the design systems, interaction models, and responsive behaviors. This collaborative process ensured that the technical execution remained faithful to the creative vision, resulting in a launch experience that honored both Linkin Park's legacy and the intimate, vulnerable nature of "One More Light."
